Remember that time not so long ago when we told you why you should be thinking about recruitment events in 2019? Well, the new year is already in full swing, and so it’s high time we had a quick look at this year’s biggest recruitment and talent events. And with the first coming at the end of this month, we’re just in the nick of time. So grab your calendars and a pen, it’s time to start scheduling some trips.
SRSC - Social Recruiting Strategies Conference
January 30 – February 1, San Francisco
You don’t have to wait too long before the first big conference of 2019. SRSC looks set to be one of the events of the year, and it’s still only January! As you may have guessed, this event will see leaders in the industry come together to share strategies and recruitment best practices. Keynote speakers will present case studies on topics including employer branding, recruitment technology, and the use of social media in today’s hunt for the best talent. Names to look out for include Carrie Corbin (Director, Employer Brand at Dell) and Tim O’Gorman (Social Media and Content Lead for Deloitte).
Recruiting Trends & Talent Tech
February 20 – 22, Las Vegas
The Recruiting Trends & Talent Tech event bills itself as the only event combining the art and science of talent acquisition. It’s a bold statement and one that the organizers have done their best to live up to. With a wide range of keynote speakers covering everything from recruitment strategies to the correct use of collated data, this event looks to be one worth visiting. And with several teambuilding and collaborative activities lined up over the three days, it’s an ideal chance to network.
March 19 – 20, 2019, London | May 14 – 15, 2019, Las Vegas
This is actually two events with the first taking place in London in March before its Las Vegas counterpart takes the reins in May. Unleash is all about unleashing the power of your employees (see what they did there) so that they can work to their full potential. The London event will have keynote speakers discussing topics such as Brexit contingency plans and the role of Artificial Intelligence in both recruitment and HR while the Las Vegas event has pulled off something of a coup this year with Edward Snowden named as one of the speakers.
March 19 – 21, Seattle | May 21 – 22, Amsterdam | September 23-25, Atlanta
As two of the most attended and popular conferences in the world, both the European and US events are highlights of the recruitment calendar with many industry leaders making the trip to both. As we all know, SourceCon is all about sourcing, and at the event, thought leaders within the industry share their strategies for finding the best talent. It’s a wonderful opportunity to network and pick up some actionable tips that you can put to use immediately. We'll also be at both conferences this Spring so make sure to pop by, say hello and get a free demo of vsource! Not to be missed.
March 26 – 28, Las Vegas
Where the company of the future begins is the event tagline and if its agenda is anything to go by it’s a pretty accurate one. HR Transform looks to help executives adapt to the ever-changing world of HR and recruitment with keynote speakers addressing such topics as attracting passive candidates, blind hiring, and even gamification. Yes, this is the event to attend if you want to future-proof your recruitment and employee engagement.
SHRM Talent Conference & Exposition
April 8 – 10, Nashville
One of the greatest benefits of attending this SHRM conference is the fact that there are over 80 sessions to allow recruiters and HR managers upskill in specific disciplines. These sessions cover everything you can imagine and range from behavioral interviewing to tackling the topic of unconscious bias. While other conferences offer wonderful presentations by the top thought leaders, SHRM offers that plus a great opportunity for learning.
ERE Recruiting Conference
April 22 – 24, San Diego | October 14 – 16, Washington D.C.
This is the Granddaddy of them all. If you were to choose one event to attend, you’d be hard pushed to find a better one than either of the ERE Recruiting Conferences. They are the largest independent conferences for talent acquisition professionals, and as such, they’re a networker’s dream. Well-known for being an event where attendees roll up their sleeves and get involved, it’s where you and your team will learn from the best of the best.
May 8 – 10, Austin | November 14 – 15, Nashville
RecruitCon is another conference that labels itself as the leading event in recruitment and to be fair it does give both ERE events a run for their money. This year they hope to help recruiters discover more about automation, creating employee advocates, using data analytics to improve ROI, and strategies used by top brands such as Amazon. They even host workshops on the day before the conference starts so that attendees can have a taste of what to expect from the event proper.
Recruiter Awards 2019
May 9, London
While this may not be the global phenomenon that some of our other events are, we thought we’d include it on the list as it’s a genuinely fun event. The Recruiters Awards is a gala event that recognizes the outstanding contributions of members of the UK recruitment industry. It’s a little like the BAFTAs or Oscars for recruiters so if you’re in the area; it could be a fun evening out in London where you’ll get to meet the biggest movers and shakers in recruitment in the UK.
June 11 – 12, Seattle
Talent42 is a little different in that it is the only event on our list that is specific to one particular type of employee. This event was created to help recruiters hire the top technology talent. And to do so, they will bring in keynote speakers from some of the world’s top tech companies such as Google, Facebook, and Apple, while companies from other industries include Amazon, Target, and Costco among many others. The idea is to share practical tips and advice on finding and hiring tech talent so if this is an area that your company struggles in, Talent42 could be the answer to your prayers.
HR Technology Conference & Exposition
October 1 – 4, 2019, Las Vegas
The HR Technology Conference & Exposition is the place to be for recruiters and HR professionals who want to learn more about the latest tech innovations in the industry. Think you already have the most cutting edge tech in your toolbox? Then take a trip to Vegas in October, and there’s guaranteed to be at least one piece of tech that will blow your mind. For upgrading or automating your processes, this is the event you want to attend.
Sourcing Summit Europe
October 8 – 10, Amsterdam
Born in Australia in 2011, the original Sourcing Summit was created to help create more awareness around the importance of sourcing and to share industry best practices. In the years that followed the summit grew to include events across the globe and now one of the most popular is the annual European event. This year it’s back in Amsterdam, and while speakers have yet to be announced, it will no doubt be one of the highlights on the European recruitment calendar.
If you’re an employer with a recruitment team, then we suggest that you should invest in sending some team members to at least one of these events (ERE being the most likely candidate). If on the other hand, you’re a recruiter and feel that you’d benefit from any one of these events then check out your chosen event’s website. Some of the organizers have helpfully put together step by step instructions or even crafted letters to help you convince your boss that you need to attend. So pull out all the stops and book your flights and hotel and you never know, you just might see us there too.
